For the March instalment of our Audiolove Showcase series we shed light on the phenomenal work of @angel.marchini. A master of saturation and composition, we are always impressed at the consistent level of work that he produces. Every images blends colour wonderfully whilst capturing the moment in a sublime way, making the artist captured look great, no matter who they are.
We asked Angel a few questions around his ideal choice of camera body and lens as well as a whole host of other questions. Our interview with him can be found below!
How did you get into music photography?
I got into music photography kind of by accident. I have always been avery enthusiastic photographer. I used todrive my friends crazy by posting 200+ photos on Facebook. I just had this urge that it needed to be recorded for posterity.
One day a music blogger friend of mine asked if I could document a show for him as his usual ohotographer couldn’t make it. I said yes I would help him out and with my Nikon D5200, A DX 35mm and a DX 18-40mm I set out on a path thar got me to where I am today. The good thing is that so far I cant see an end in sight
What has been your favourite band toshoot so far and why?
I have so many bands that it would have to be The Darkness. The Darkness is just a great touring band with a great live show. Justin Hawkins, the lead singer, is that glammed-up, oversexed rocker from the 70s that somehow fits in in today’s music world. It’s like they just belong. When youphotograph the darkness you are always guaranteed a good show, both in front and behind the camera.
What does your kit bag consist of when you’re shooting live music events?
My main cameras are thje Nikon D810 and the D750. My main lenses are 24-70mm and 70-200mm and the 200-500mm. The one for soundboard or backvenue shooting. The next lens im planning on buying is the 14-24mm. For media storage I only use the Lexar professional 2000x 64gb SDXC UHS-II//U3 Cards
For my camera belt, I use the cotton carrier camera system, consisting of a vest unit and two removable side holsters. My main camera bag is the Thinktank Turnstyle 20.
