The crowd was fired up from the start, all singing along to Blink-182’s I Miss You and Journey’s Don’t’ Stop Believin’, while the stage was being setup for the show. When the band took the stage, the crowd went wild.  Gruenberg started the show off screaming the words to 2.0 with the crowd joining him shouting “Dead, We’re not dead, We’re not like you said, We’re not dead, We’re not where you said”.  This led into What’s Left of Me with Bokan transitioning into cleaner vocals.

The previous act was Escape The Fate, who was on their This War Is Ours 10th Anniversary tour The band sang the this album from start to finish.  Similarly, Blessthefall performed all the songs from Witness. Bokan and Gruenberg alternated vocals, with Bokan providing the cleaner vocals and Gruenberg throwing in the death growls.

Crowd surfing starting almost immediately with an endless caravan of surfers flowing into the pit. It took four of the security staff working relentlessly to catch all the surfers.  It was like a war zone with four photographers, four security staff and surfers coming from everywhere into the pit.  I was constantly looking over my shoulder, making sure no one was going to come down on top of me. After I shot my three songs, I hurriedly left the pit, thankful I survived.

Bokan was constantly going into the crowd mixing with the fans, which included an 11 year old named Ashley. A mosh pit broke out in the middle of the floor at the same time that the crowd surfing was happening.  The staff at the Vinyl Music Hall did an amazing job of keeping the performers and fans safe. I would say that of all the shows that I have photographed this year, this was by far the wildest.

Dead
We're not dead
We're not like you said

We're not dead
We're not where you said
