This year, it was 39th edition of Calgary Folk Music Festival held at Prince's Island Park in Calgary, AB. In four days, it featured over 70 icons and upstarts from Alberta, Canada, and the world, on seven stages in concerts and collaborative sessions.
Calgary Folk Fest features tends to be a multi genre event,with a blend of music from the likes of indie, funk, roots, country, old-time, folk, and world music. It is estimated that in four days, about 53,000 Calgarians and tourists come down to Prince’s Island Park to listen to big artists as well as to discover new music and singers.
This year’s lineup on the main stage alone included: Alvvays, Joe Jackson, A Tribe Called Red, Bahamas, Neko Case, Lee Ann Womack, Reuben and the Dark, Stars, Passenger, The Milk Carton Kids, Rhye, African Head Charge, Shovels & Rope, Kobo Town, Archie Roach, The War and Threaty.
