If you are looking to attend a concert to just sit back, chill, and listen to some music, then Hyro The Hero is not for you. However, if you are wanting to attend a show full of attitude where you spend your whole night on your feet, jumping up and down, pumping your fists in the air, then you’ve found your man. Hyro performed at Club LA in Destin, Florida on September 25th on a bill that also included Zero Theorem, Madame Mayhem, and Nonpoint. I had passes to photograph and write reviews for Madame Mayhem and Nonpoint but was so impressed by Hero that I contacted him to see if he was OK with me reviewing his show as well. His response was “hell yeah that would be epic”.
When Hyro came out on stage, shirtless with a bandanna on head, I immediately thought this was going to be just a run of the mill Rap or Hip-Hop show. However, Hyro’s music drew from multiple music genres. Imagine Rap vocals fused with Alternative, Rock and Metal style guitar rhythms presented with a Punk attitude. Hyro was all over the stage chest bumping and leaning against the guitar players who were laying down the riffs.
This performance was one of my most memorable to photograph. Hyro was like an acrobat, jumping and leaping across the stage with his feet spending almost as much time in the air as on the stage. I was able to capture over a dozen shots of him in the air. It’s rare that I capture even one aerial shot during a show let alone a dozen. If you are looking for an entertaining evening, then I would highly recommend attending a Hyro The Hero concert.
