Presented by MRG Concerts and Atomique Productions , Tomorrows Bad Seeds (Hermosa Beach, California) kicked off a night of Californian ska, reggae and rock here in Victoria B.C. Anyone arriving late to this show definitely missed out on Tomorrows Bad Seeds’ energetic stage presence.
A personal favourite of mine - hailing from Los Angeles, The Aggrolites were up next. I was pleasantly surprised that they played a number of songs off their 2006 self-titled album, even though they just released a new album, “Reggae Now!” , two weeks ago. They delivered an energetic set full of songs spanning over a decade that had the crowd singing along.
Last, but not least, Long Beach, California’s aptly named Long Beach Dub Allstars closed out the night with a set peppered with sublime songs. The band has several ties to Sublime; guitarist Michael "Miguel" Happoldt and drummer Ras MG are both former members of the band. The ties don’t end there, though - LBDAS frontman Opie Ortiz was the tattoo artist responsible for Bradley Nowell’s ‘Sublime’ back tattoo featured on the cover art of their 1996 self-titled album .
The Long Beach Dub Allstars North-American summer 2019 tour with The Aggrolites runs until August 4th, 2019.
