It's always good to see some Australian bands travelling all the way from the other side of the world to play in our little tiny country. This time I had the honour to take some photos of the lads from Ocean Alley. It was quite a surprise when Paradiso announced that the Ocean Alley show had changed venue due to the success during the pre-sale of the tickets. It sold out so fast that they decided to move from the Tolhuistuin with a capacity of 550 people to the main stage of Paradiso itself with a capacity of 1500 people, which clearly shows just how many Dutch fans the band has!
Ocean Alley are known for their Psychedelic Reggae-Fusion/Surfrock and have recently released two new singles: Infinity and Stained Glass, I really dig the Infinity video clip; a must see video!
For now however, let's go back to the concert! It was an absolutely solid performance, the kind of music where you automatically close your eyes and start to dance, reminiscent of the laid-back vibes that we have come to know and love from a lot of Australian bands. They brought an overdose of relaxation with them, which was the perfect antidote to a lot of stressed out people.
They played all their well known songs such as “Confidence”, “Yellow Mellow”, “Holiday”, “Partner in Crime” as well as their two new singles. And of course part of the encore for their stellar performance of the cover from Player’s "Baby Come Back " which was born at the Like A Version session.
It was great fun seeing these guys, a big thanks goes out to the management of Ocean Alley for the opportunity!
