Fans of female driven indie pop rock unite! SHEL AND THE ACCIDENTALS melted minds into hearts Wednesday night at the Exit/In, Nashville Tennessee.
Stephie James opened the show with some no frills, ass-kicking rock and roll. A little bit Roy Orbison, a little bit Billie Holiday, and a little bit something entirely her own, Ms. James and Co. belt out a set of solid tunes.
SHEL rocked out as direct support, and these young women are seriously talented. SHEL, an acronym combining the first letters of each one’s given name, is four sisters travelling in the family band. They sound like a four piece indie/pop vocal group, but each are really accomplished multi-instrumentalists as well. Sarah on violin and bass, Hannah on keys, Eva with her mandolin and guitar, and crowd favorite Liza on drums, percussion and also busting out some super dope beat box skillz. High energy and lots of fun, your homework assignment is to go see SHEL. At least check them out on YouTube below!
The Accidentals had their work cut out for them following these two acts and they stepped up to the task. The indie/pop/folk/rock power trio is comprised of Sav Buist on vox/bass/viola, Katie Larson on electric cello and guitar and Michael Dause on the pots and pans. Their performance is energetic. Their songs are indie inspired for sure, with unique quirks that perk up your ears and envelop your interest.
