AFI Live Review

I was able to make it out to Emo’s in Austin to photograph AFI on The Blood Tour, which just so happened to take place on Valentine’s Day. This has easily been one of my favourite shows of the year so far and I would imagine it will stay that way for quite some time whenever i  think about the highly energetic performance they gave.

AFI kicked of their set to a sold out crowd with “Strength Through Wounding” from the Black Sails in the Sunset album. One of my favourites “Girl’s Not Grey” came shortly after the opening song that had fans cheering and singing along! The setlist was incredibly diverse, with AFI playing some crowd favourites such as “Miss Murder” that came around the halfway mark of their set as well as the track “So Beneath You” being played for the first time.

Not only was frontman Davey Havok up and down the stage all night, but he also gave an intimate performance, coming out into the crowd and singing along with them.  The band have a few more U.S. dates over the remainder of February before heading out to the UK with Deftones and playing a few festivals such as Download and Firefly. If you are able to catch them this year don’t sleep on them you will not regret it.
