Coheed and Cambria
Neverender: Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV Tour
The Tabernacle – Atlanta, Ga.
Famed New York progressive-rock quartet Coheed and Cambria brought their famous Neverender themed tour to The Tabernacle in Atlanta. This time around, Claudio Sanchez and his bandmates focused on Coheed and Cambria’s third and arguably most popular LP Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV. Since launching the current tour in mid-April of 2017, Coheed and Cambria have played non-stop sold out shows; which have garnered rave reviews as the band has incorporated a trifecta of high-hanging screens which narrate a visual story to compliment the marvelous work Coheed and Cambria have accustomed their fans to.
The evening kicks off with lead-vocalist Claudio Sanchez walking on stage to the cheerfulness of attendees, as opening track “Keeping the Blade” plays over the house speakers. Subsequently Sanchez goes on to perform a solo rendition of haunting second track “Always & Never,” before the remaining band members join the stage and all hell breaks loose. Of course, I’m referring to third album track “Welcome Home.” Traditionally the finale to every show, fans still brought their typical gusto and energy as mosh pits raged and they bellow every word of Coheed and Cambria’s most notable single. The night carries on with the Nyack quartet performing the remaining tracks of the GAIBSIV to a cavalcade of fervent fans, prior to exiting the stage after album closing single “The Willing Well IV: The Final Cut." Having just witnessed a sensational show, fans loudly chant “Coheed, Coheed, Coheed,” making it obvious an encore is expected, and in natural fashion, Coheed and Cambria oblige. They night comes to a thrilling conclusion when Claudio, Travis, Josh and Zach give the audience a three-track encore of hits by way of “The Island,” “Delirium Trigger,” and explosive finale “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3.”
A Coheed and Cambria Neverender is always a celebration to the “Children of the Fence” (as Coheed and Cambria die-hard fans moniker themselves) and, like many times before tonight, Claudio Sanchez and crew always go to great lengths in putting their best foot forward. The lights go down and fans stumbled out in a state of euphoria, until next time.
