I started off the year with a short road trip to see Mutemath up in Austin, TX at one of my favorite venues Emo’s. This was my first time getting to see them live and it made it even more special getting to shoot them as well. Upon arrival the venue was packed from front to back being that they were no stranger to the city of Austin.
I had heard about lead vocalist and keyboardist Paul Meany being full of energy when performing which made me so eager to photograph him as well as the rest of the band on stage. They began their setlist that consisted of roughly twenty songs with the track “Used To” off the album Vitals. The next two played while I viewed from the photo pit were “Light Up” and “Blood Pressure” which I absolutely enjoyed. The setlist concluded with a remix of the track “Monument” that had the audience going wild. Everything from stage presence to the killer lighting that night made Mutemath a night to remember and I hope that I am able to catch them again sometime this year.
