During my time a few days ago at The Webber Academy, I was treated to not one, but two fantastic acts! The first act was Kara Grainger, closely followed by Whitney Rose.
Whitney is a singer/songwriter born in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Her music, self-described as “vintage-pop-infused neo-traditional country", draws on influences from musicians such as Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton and Keith Whitley.
She began writing songs as a teenager. After she moved to Toronto, she became immersed in the city's folk scene. Drawing from this influence, this sound became intertwined with her traditional country roots.
Now residing in Austin Texas and fresh off the release of her new album "Rule 62”, which stands for the aphorism: “don’t take yourself too damn seriously”, she graced the stage ready to wow us with her music!
Throughout her entire performance, what struck me was her amazing stage presence and authentic sound. The crowd were clearly in love with what they were hearing and every song was a beautiful exploration of her music.
If you are yet to hear from this talent, the great news is that her entire set was also recorded by KSPS Public Television where you can listen to whole show all over again. After this, for those itching for more, information can be found under the links below!
